Since December 28, 2023, the City of Auburn and the Cayuga County Water and Sewer Authority have been negotiating a new agreement for the purchase and supply of potable water. While talks continue, the two parties have agreed to extend the terms of their original agreement, which dates back to September 11, 2003. At Thursday night’s city council meeting, Auburn officials approved another extension, this time through December 31, 2026, giving both sides additional time to finalize a new long-term deal.
On FLX Morning with Ted Baker, City Clerk Chuck Mason said it is an important agreement.
The County Authority had already agreed to the extension that was voted on by the City Council on Thursday night.
