The city of Auburn submitted an application to the state for one million dollars in Restore New York Communities Initiative funding to help finance a portion of the cost to rehabilitate and reopen the Hunter Dineraunt on Genesee Street. City Clerk Chuck Mason said before unanimous approval was given by City Council to apply to the state for the funding Thursday night, the project’s local developers, addressed what was the city’s biggest concern, the deterioration of the pillars that hold the Dineraunt over the Owasco River.
Mason said the proposal would need to be approved by the Army Corps of Engineers as well as the State DEC before becoming reality.
