Overdoses Decline in Cayuga County in April

Overdoses continue to decline in Cayuga County.

At the time of reporting, the county’s overdose dashboard recorded seven suspected overdoses within the county for April with none of them being fatal. This is down from the 12 overdoses reported in March. It’s also down from April of 2023 which saw 16 overdoses.

Of the seven overdoses reported last month, 85.7% happened within Auburn’s city limits. 14.3% are thought to have involved opioids Narcan was administered in 42.9% of cases.

So far, 2024 has seen 44 suspected overdoses reported in Cayuga County, including one fatal overdose that occurred in February. During the same time frame in 2023, 54 overdoses were reported while January through April of 2022 saw 74 overdoses reported in the county.
