Applications open Monday for Cayuga County Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program.
Described as a “hand-up, not a handout,” the program helps homebuyers build or fix up their house and take out affordable mortgages. Partner families work alongside friends family and volunteers building or rehabbing homes to offset the cost of the purchase through 250 hours of what the organization calls “sweat equity.”
Applications will be open through July 19.
Eligibility criteria and application information can be found on Habitat for Humanity’s website. Anyone with questions can contact the group at [email protected] or 315-255-1427.
