Appellate Division Upholds Five Cayuga County Convictions

Five convictions secured by the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office have been affirmed by the state’s Appellate Division.

On March 20, 2023, Luke Gaffney was convicted of Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer. On October 23, 2020, Gaffney stabbed a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy who tried to force entry into his Aurelius house. On June 12, 2023, Gaffney was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision.

On May 29, 2022, Gregory Jordan stabbed a bar employee after being kicked out of an Auburn bar. He was convicted of Assault on May 25, 2023, and sentenced to five years in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision.

Chanchhayavan Chourb was found guilty on April 5, 2023, of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. On July 1, 2022, Chourb discarded a bag containing a significant amount of cocaine while fleeing police on South Street in Auburn He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and three years post-release supervision.

Two defendants who entered guilty pleas also had their convictions upheld. Rondale Cooper pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance on April 27, 2022, and was sentenced to four years in prison followed by three years post-release supervision that June. Andrew Wilson pled guilty to Aggravated Family Offense on January 9, 2023. In June, he was sentenced to two to four years in prison.
