Good news from the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY.
The SPCA announced Wednesday in an email that it has officially gained custody of the large number of animals seized in December during the execution of a search warrant in Summerhill. Following weeks of intensive care and medical assessments, the organization said these animals are beginning the next chapter of their lives and can “start the journey toward finding their forever home.”
On December 18, following the execution of the search warrant along with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the SPCA took in seven rabbits, two snakes, one gerbil, one guinea pig, one turtle, 17 dogs, two cats, two pigs, and three chickens seized from the Lake Como Rd residence. Along with the seizure, five people were arrested on animal cruelty charges.
The SPCA added that this endeavour would not have been possible without the support of its volunteers and donors, and would like to thank everyone for their support.
“We are truly grateful to be part of a community that responds with such heart, unity, and determination,” the email stated.
