Work begins next week on a $650,000 road work project in the City of Auburn.
Work on the portion of State Street (Rt 38) between West Garden and Perrine Streets begins Tuesday and is expected to last through mid-September.
Funding for the project comes from the New York State Touring Route program money the city was awarded as part of the 2024 state budget., something Mayor Jimmy Giannettino stated would not have been possible without the support of State Senator Rachel May.
“This investment in the west side of our city is long overdue. In the end we will have an improved State Street in a high traffic area in front of the Auburn Correctional Facility and north through Perrine Street,” stated Mayor James N. Giannettino. “We would like to recognize NYS Senator Rachel May, we brought this State Street repaving project to her attention and she supported us with this funding in the 2024 State Budget.”
While no permanent road closures are planned, the city says there will be temporary partial closures in work areas as needed.
