3 Village DRI Local Planning Committee Meeting to be Held Monday

SHARE NOW

The date is set for the first Local Planning Committee (LPC) meeting regarding the Cayuga Lake Route 90 DRI.

Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs residents are encouraged to attend the meeting on Monday from 4:00-6:00p at the Union Springs Fire Hall. The event can also be viewed virtually via Zoom.

Kari Terwilliger with the county’s Department of Planning & Economic Development told Finger Lakes News Radio that this meeting will largely serve as an orientation for the 15 members – five from each village – serving on the committee.

At the end of the meeting, DRI project manager Emma Phillips will reserve time for the public to ask questions and provide feedback about the project.

According to Terwilliger, an open call for projects will soon be put out, allowing individuals and businesses to submit projects for part of the $10 million available in funding. Projects submitted as part of the application will need to be resubmitted. The LPC will then determine which projects go into the Strategic Investment Plan, a detailed look at the villages, their downtowns, and proposed projects to be approved by the governor.

Terwilliger added that this will be the first of six LPC meetings which will run until either October or November, depending on scheduling. There will also be at least two public workshops related to the projects.

Back in February, Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs were announced as the joint winners of Central New York’s  DRI award.
