SHARE NOW

Two upcoming events in Cayuga County will celebrate the work of three Auburn women who helped lead the crusade for abolition and women’s suffrage.

Author Dorothy Wickenden will be at Wells College on Thursday night for a free public talk and book signing of her book The Agitators. The book focuses on the history of the United States through the eyes of Frances Seward, Harriet Tubman, and Martha Coffin Wright before, during, and after the Civil War.

The free event begins at 6:00p Wednesday at Phipps Auditorium at Macmillan Hall. It will also be streamed on the college’s YouTube channel.

The lecture and signing are part of Wells College’s Louis Jefferson Long Library’s Community Read.

The Seward House Museum will also be offering specialty tours that day based on The Agitators. These tours will examine the life of Frances Seward and her connection to Tubman and Coffin Wright.

Tours will begin at 11:00a, 1:00p, and 3:00p on Wednesday. Tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com.
