The Auburn YMCA has announced a major capital campaign aimed at revitalizing Camp Y-Owasco, a longtime Finger Lakes destination for youth programs and outdoor recreation.

According to the YMCA, the project marks the first full-scale investment in the camp since the 1970s. Located along 2,800 feet of Owasco Lake shoreline, Camp Y-Owasco has served generations of campers for more than a century and remains one of the region’s few remaining day and resident camps on the lake.

Phase One of the campaign is already underway and includes renovations to the camp’s kitchen and main lodge, upgrades to the camp office and infirmary, and improvements to the archery range, art shed, and waterfront equipment.

YMCA officials say the improvements are designed to preserve and strengthen the camp’s ability to provide outdoor experiences, leadership development, and lifelong memories for future generations.

The organization described Camp Y-Owasco as an important community asset and a place where young people connect with nature, build friendships, and develop new skills.

Fundraising efforts are continuing, with donations supporting both the current phase of construction and future improvements planned as part of the broader revitalization initiative.

The Auburn YMCA says the campaign will help ensure Camp Y-Owasco remains a destination for youth and families throughout the Finger Lakes for years to come.
