Early voting begins Saturday.

In Cayuga County, elections officials are reminding residents that there is a new polling place this year that can be used for early voting. Officials hope the new location at the Fingerlakes Mall will relieve other sites as a large voter turnout is anticipated since 2024 is a presidential election year.

Located in the mall’s community room (the former Jo-Ann Frabrics store), the polling place can be utilized for early voting and voting on Election Day. Democratic Commissioner Keith Batman had previously told FInger Lakes News Radio that, thanks to ballot on demand, any county resident can vote at the mall, receiving the proper ballot for their residence.

“To use an example, we have two congressional districts and three assembly districts,” said Batman. “Say you live in Sennett and you go to the Fingerlakes Mall; they will produce a ballot for you for Sennett so you’ll have a ballot for the northern part of the county’s congressional district [and] for the [126th] assembly district.”

Thanks to ample parking which is close to the entranceway, both men hope this will provide a set that can be easily used by those with mobility issues. Both men also hope the mall could become a model for other counties to increase voter access.

Other early voting sites include Auburn’s Clifford Park at 81 Mary St, Cato Municipal Building at 11320 Shortcut Rd, and Moravia Town Hall at 1630 State Rt 38.
