Bath Police Arrest Local Man on Drug Charges

SHARE NOW

The Village of Bath Police Department reports the arrest of a 31-year-old Bath man on an active Superior Court Warrant.

Shane Cummings was taken into custody shortly after 1 Friday morning following an investigation by the department into narcotics activity in the Village of Bath. He is charged by Grand Jury indictment with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both Class B felonies.

The arrest stems from a lengthy investigation that began in July 2025 into the possession and sale of narcotics in the village. At the time of his arrest, Cummings was found in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, which will be sent to a lab for further testing. Additional charges are expected.

Cummings was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail to await arraignment in Steuben County Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
