This fall, Seneca Community Players (SCP) will mount acclaimed writer Adam Rapp’s heartbreaking story of a man piecing together the events of a life shattered by his sister’s untimely death. With a keen eye for human relationships and a deft ear for language, Rapp explores the aftershock of this unimaginable event. The play is at once a devastating and elegant portrait of grief and redemption, a gripping dissection of the American dream. Prompting the question of how can we ever move on in the face of tragic loss, Nocturne is sure to send audiences on a cathartic journey of hope and healing.

Originally produced by American Repertory Theater, Cambridge MA, SCP’s production of Nocturne is an intimate one-man show with limited seating at each performance! The opportunities to join the audience are at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21, and at 2pm on Sunday, September 21, followed by a second weekend run on September 27 and 28 (Friday and Saturday) at 8pm, with a final matinée at 2pm on Sunday, September 29. Tickets are $15 pre-ordered online at www.SenecaCommunityPlayers.org or $17 in-person at the door; pre-sale ticket purchases are recommended. The production will take place at the air-conditioned and ADA-accessible Layfayette Theater, located at 202 W. Main St, Waterloo, NY 13165. SCP would like to encourage mature audiences – language and situations may not be suitable for all ages.

Nocturne is co-directed by SCP performing veteran and current board member, Wendy Varricchio-Fletcher (Seneca Falls) and SCP newcomer, Kevin Collins (Lyons), also the production’s sole performer. Additional production staff includes: Stage Manager – Dawn Jansen; Light and Sound Engineer – Eric Jansen; Technical Support – Hunter DeJonge; Set Designer – Kevin Collins; Publicity – Carrie Bradford; Producing – Lara Schmidtgall.
