Mill Street, Auburn, NY 13021
Join the City of Auburn, Auburn Beautification Commission, Cayuga Climate Action, and Auburn Downtown BID in celebrating Earth Day 2025 with a clean-up of our Owasco River.
Residents of Auburn are invited to celebrate Earth Day 2025 and help provide some spring cleaning for the Owasco River from the area of the Mill Street Dam through Market Street Park in downtown Auburn. The Owasco River Earth Day Clean-up event will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 beginning at 9:30 a.m. through 12 p.m. noon.
9:30 am: the City of Auburn Department of Municipal Utilities will be on hand at the Mill Street Hydroelectric Facility to provide an Earth Day tour of the facility. At this tour interested participants can learn more about how the Owasco River flow is turned in to energy.
10 am volunteer clean-up: for the 10 am clean-up event volunteers are asked to meet by the Mill Street Dam where Canal Street intersects with Osborne Street in Auburn. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and rakes. Supplies such as garbage bags and leaf bags will be provided. There will also be some tools available for those that do not have tools to bring.
After the clean-up, walk on over to Auburn Public Theater’s Stage Right (8 Exchange Street) for a community swap shop! Bring 5-10 clean, usable household items (NO ELECTRONICS) that you can carry in/carry out and swap for items you may need or want with your community members. Swap Shop hours are 12-3. All items are free. Swap Shops are ways to support a reuse model for our material belongings and foster community. You may bring items directly to the event, or drop your items off with the Auburn Beautification Commission from 10-11 at the Mill Street Dam Owasco River Clean-up.
Happy Earth Day!
This event is sponsored by the Auburn Beautification Commission, Cayuga Climate Action and the City of Auburn.
