On April 5th, 2025, at 11:00 am, the Middlesex Heritage Group will host a Dedication Ceremony at the Middlesex Hose Company to celebrate the complete restoration of five historical photo murals.
In 1953, Anson Wagar donated eight black and white photographs depicting Middlesex and surrounding area schoolhouses to Middlesex Valley School. Local artist Jane Loomis Gould was then commissioned to colorize these photographs with oil paint. For decades, these beautiful pieces of art graced the halls of the Middlesex Valley School, until they were donated to the Middlesex Heritage Group in 1993, in need of repair. Former Middlesex historian Dan Robeson secured a grant through the Greater Hudson Heritage Network to begin the restoration process of the murals. Over the past several years, these pieces of art have been carefully restored by local Honeoye Falls resident, Gary Albright.
We hope you will join us to view and celebrate the restoration completion of these pieces of art, learn about the restoration process, and discuss the life and work of Jane Loomis Gould with a presentation from Ken Poole.”
