Historic Geneva will kick off the yearlong celebration of America’s 250th birthday with a screening of historic footage of the city’s 1976 Bicentennial celebrations. Visit Geneva in the 1970s! Watch selections from the Fireman’s Parade and a festival run by the American Legion. See a Civil War battle reenactment at Seneca Lake State Park, and music, dance, and community displays in Genesee and Pulteney Parks, and at the Torrey Park Festival. The footage lasts about 40 minutes.

Get out of the house with the kids and look for grandma in the footage! There will also be old-fashioned games and craft activities to try while you watch. All ages welcome

This program is open to the public. There is a suggested donation of $5 to support our programming.

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Historic Geneva is commemorating the anniversary with exhibits, programs, and blog articles. “Happy Birthday USA!” is part of the 250th commemoration.
