Week 1- Introduction to the Wheel

Join us for our “Wednesday Wheel Night” pottery series, where we explore different techniques on the wheel every week! Sign up for one session or all four. Students who sign up for all 4 sessions will have their glazing fees waived. In session 1, Linda will introduce you to the basics of creating pottery on the wheel– a.k.a. “throwing” on the wheel. Clay preparation, pottery tools, wheel function, centering the clay, opening the clay, and pulling the clay to create a cylinder are just some of the basic techniques you will learn during this class. You will be amazed at how your hands have taken a round ball of clay and created a cylinder! Let’s see how high you can pull those walls…. Once you have mastered these basic skills, the vessels you can create on the wheel are limitless. All levels are welcome to join, ages 18+.
