Adult Pottery: “Lady Liberty” Relief Sculpture with Linda LaRock

Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States with this fun pottery project! The Statue of Liberty has been the symbol of the USA since 1886. Her majestic figure is very complicated and simple at the same time. This Roman goddess has a broken shackle on her raised right foot. The tablet she holds is inscribed with July 4, 1776. Her left arm is raised high above her crown, holding a torch. However, her attire is a simple robe of cloth. In this class, students will create a relief sculpture of this historic statue on a slab of clay. The outline of her figure will be given as a template to start. Linda will then guide students with further instructions on how to create the intricate details of Lady Liberty’s majestic beauty. All levels are welcome to join, ages 18+.
