Historic Geneva’s spring program series kicks off with a lecture, the “History of Firefighting in Geneva,” by Historic Geneva curator John Marks. The program is presented in conjunction with our reopening exhibit, “Firefighting in Geneva.” Organized fire companies date back to the early history of the village. They multiplied, expanded, and became more important as the community grew in the late 19th century. John will talk about the many companies that have existed in the past, the history of the current companies, and how fire fighting has changed over two centuries in Geneva.
The program is open to the public. There is a suggested donation of $5 to support Historic Geneva’s programming. For more information about the lecture, call the Historic Geneva office at 315-789-5151.
