The celebration of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital 100th birthday ends with the sounds of ragtime piano, the swish of feathers, the clanking of glasses and a toast to the next century of caring for Penn Yan and the surrounding communities.
Finger Lakes Health Foundation, with Centennial Chairs Dr. Eleanor DeWitt and Susan Stork, host “Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital’s Centennial Celebration” on Thursday, October 24. The 1920s-themed fundraising party starts at 5 p.m. at the Mansion at Keuka, 3456 NY-54A, Keuka Park. Guests will enjoy piano music, a cocktail, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. They can savor a sundae from the “Peppermint Parlor” featuring Seneca Farms’ Century Salute ice cream, custom-made for the hospital’s birthday, stop by the photo booth, and enter a drawing to win one of four prize packages.
Individual tickets to the event are $70.00 and available online at https://www.flhealth.org/patients-visitors/community/celebrating-soldiers-sailors-centennial/ or by cash or check made payable and mailed to Finger Lakes Health Foundation, 196 North Street, Geneva, NY 14456 until October 18. To reserve tickets, call the Foundation office at (315)787-4050.
Proceeds from all Centennial Celebration events will help defray costs of a new state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine and software, and radiology suite renovations at the hospital. The new machine, a vital diagnostic tool, will be more comfortable for patients and staff to use, have enhanced imaging capabilities, and be adaptable to anticipated new technologies.
“Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital’s 100th birthday is both a time to reflect on the hospital’s beginnings and legacy of caring for Penn Yan and the wider community, as well as look forward to a healthy future,” says Kim Ilacqua, Finger Lakes Health Vice President of Community Services and Finger Lakes Health Foundation Executive Director. “This has been and continues to be a true community celebration. We are so grateful to the businesses, community organizations and individual donors who help us continue to provide the best possible care, close to home.”
