Seminar to Discuss Link between HABs and Invasive Species

SHARE NOW

A special presentation on the connection between invasive mussels and harmful algal blooms will take place Monday in Seneca Falls.

Doctor Kim Schulz will discuss how species such as quagga mussels are affecting the Finger Lakes and beyond. Judy Wright with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County told FLX Morning about the work Schulz has been doing for the Finger Lakes.

“She’s a professor of the environment and forest biology,” Wright said. “So, she’s actually been diving in our lakes and looking at the beds of invasive mussels that have come in, and the one most recent is the quagga mussel.”
