Ray Ciancaglini and his Second Impact organization organized two very successful fund-raiser dinners last year for Geneva firemen and police officers. This year, it’s all in one with the Shields of Honor Gala Friday, Nov. 3, at Ventosa Vineyards.

Hosted by Ciancaglini and The Second Impact, the gala will get under way from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with cocktails and dinner will be at 7 p.m. New this year will be live entertainment by the Bobby Greco Band from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

“This kind of thing makes me tick, because you never know what tomorrow will bring,” Ciancaglini told the Finger Lakes Times. “I want to leave this world a better place, and without our first responders it would not be a better place. I have grown so fond of these young men and women. I love being around them,” Ciancaglini said. “I admire their courage and dedication. It’s a high-risk job and thank God we have them. The least we can do is give them the best equipment.”

The gala will feature a live auction, door, prizes and raffles, with many sports memorabilia items available. Some of the items up for auction are a helmet signed by Hobart College football player and Super Bowl champion Ali Marpet, a Buffalo Bills cap signed by Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, two special rifles and a recliner from Ashley Furniture. “Everyone in attendance has a good chance of winning something or going home with something,” said Ciancaglini.

Tickets are $100 per person and are available at Kelly’s Irish Pub, Dana’s Time Out, Pedulla’s Liquor and the Sons of Italy.
