Newark Launches Home for the Holidays Festival

Newark is gearing up for a festive season with the launch of Home for the Holidays, a series of events running from Thanksgiving through the New Year. The festivities kick off with the Newark Turkey Day Race on November 28, a 5-mile road run supporting and organized by the Newark Cross Country Boosters.

The celebration continues with the first-ever Parade of Lights, Tree Decorating Contest, and the Annual Tree Lighting and Community Center Christmas Party on November 30, organized by the Home for the Holidays committee, along with the Newark NY Chamber of Commerce and the Alex Eligh Community Center. November 30 is also Small Business Saturday, a perfect time to shop in Newark for presents, services, and gift cards.

These holiday events are meant to bring people together, offering everyone in the community a chance to connect and celebrate the season. “This season is about more than decorations—it’s about creating moments of joy and togetherness,” said Mayor Jonathan Taylor. “But we need everyone’s support to make it happen.”

In addition to the November 30 festivities, the community will also enjoy other holiday events, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) concert at Newark High School on December 6 at 7 PM, and the return of the Newark Fire Department’s Breakfast with Santa on December 7, starting at 7:30 AM.
