SHARE NOW

The Village of Newark would like to thank Mark Peake for more than 25 years of service to the Village. Mark came to Newark from the Town of Arcadia as a Code Enforcement Officer. Over the years, due to his natural ability, the position evolved to include Economic Development. Eventually, Mark concentrated only on Economic Development. Mark’s mediating skills and easy-going temperament gained him great respect in all of his roles at the Village of Newark.

Mark lives in the Town of Arcadia with his wife, Kelly. They have two children, Alex and Alyssa and a grandchild, Kendrick.

Mayor Jonathan Taylor stated, “Mark’s imprint can be found everywhere in our village. Over the past 25 years he has been an integral part of developing a strategic plan for economic growth in our community. One highlight of the many contributions Mark has made to the Village was as a member of the core team that developed the Downtown Revitalization Initiative plan, which helped secure the $10 million award for the village in 2021. As a community, we want to thank Mark for his dedication and commitment to Newark and wish him well in his retirement.”

Bob Bendix, Economic Development Commissioner, commented, “Mark played a vital role in structuring our Economic Development Department.  Economic development is key to the growth of any municipality and Mark not only brought new business to the community, he also aided in keeping existing businesses here in our village.  His vision, creativity and willingness to go the extra mile has been beneficial in making Newark what it is today.  We will miss Mark and wish he and his wife the very best in retirement!
