Congratulations to the winners of Newark’s Halloween Contests!
There were so many great entries this year, it was hard for the judges to decide the winners! For the Pumpkin Sculpture Contest, residents and businesses were asked to paint, stack, or carve live pumpkins to make a pumpkin sculpture which would be judged on Fall Sprit and Original Design.
Mayor Jonathan Taylor presented a basket of holiday goodies to the best residential entry, Reesa Santell at 118 Franklin St. He also presented the Pumpkin Trophy to the best business entry, ElderONE, 1000 Technology Parkway. This year, an additional category of “Best Halloween Display” was added. Mayor Jonathan Taylor presented this award to the best business entry, Lisa’s Hair Salon, 622 South Main St. A basket of holiday goodies was given to the best residential entry in this category, Amy Ahlheit, 423 West Ave.
