The Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce held a Member Milestone Celebration to feature an official ribbon-cutting event for Heart of Gold Veterinary Care’s brand-new facility on August 1.
Located at 3858 State Route 14a in Geneva, they opened their doors to the new clinic earlier this year following construction which took place over the better part of 2023. Dr. Jessica Gulvin is the owner and founder of the practice.
From a young age, Dr. Gulvin’s love of animals led her to veterinary school where she completed her Veterinary Degree at Ohio State University in 2019. Following graduation, a recognized lack of veterinary care for large animals is what first inspired Dr. Gulvin to open Heart of Gold Veterinary Care, PLLC as a mobile operation. She soon realized that there was also a need for small animal care in the local area as well, and that it was clear that Heart of Gold needed a home base to grow and meet the area’s changing needs. After working out of her parent’s garage where a temporary space had been set up next door to the property where the new clinic is today, and getting through the challenges of COVID, the facility of her childhood dreams was finally able to be constructed in 2023 by a team of local builders. The finished result also features work done by her dad, Rick Gulvin. The new state-of-the-art clinic now offers six treatment rooms, two private comfort rooms, and a beautiful lobby, complete with an entrance for dogs and another just for cats!
During the Chamber’s event, guests were able to tour the new facility and meet with the veterinarians, management, and staff members, while enjoying refreshments before the group photo. Other highlights included animal meet & greets and having the opportunity to talk with the owner and her family about the history of the business and her future plans that she has in store such as a phase 2 & 3 equine center that will offer a large animal surgical suite and rehabilitation center.
Among thanking her employees for working hard each day in a challenging environment, Dr. Jessica Gulvin thanked and credited her family for making her dreams become a reality. “Thank you to Grandma Marilyn Jensen who played a critical role in obtaining the land for the clinic. Without her, this clinic would not have been possible. Most Importantly, thank you to my Mom and Dad, Rick and Elisha Gulvin. Without their unconditional love, support, and guidance…and maybe a few kicks in the butt, this dream would never have become a reality,” she added.
