A grant of $5000 has been awarded by Waterloo Container in Waterloo, NY to FLX Craft Beverage Environmental Coalition in Geneva, NY to allow the newly-formed sustainability organization to expand its programming.

“FLX CBEC is humbled and honored to receive this gift from Waterloo Container, a company that puts into practice the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits.” Said Vinny Aliperti, Secretary and Co-Founder of the FLX CBEC, and Co-Owner of Billsboro Winery in Geneva, NY.

The FLX CBEC was established in 2023 to advocate for sustainable environmental policies on behalf of the Finger Lakes craft beverage producers, including wineries, breweries, cideries, distilleries and tourism-related partners. Its purpose is to educate members and promote environmentally sound business practices to address the many challenges posed by the changing climate in the Finger Lakes region.

FLX CBEC believes that our industry’s brand IS the Finger Lakes. Agri-tourism’s growth and development is inextricably tied to a healthy environment, so it’s incumbent upon us stakeholders to protect our resources for the next generation of makers and growers.” Aliperti continued.

Waterloo Container was proud to make this donation to the FLX CBEC, giving their coalition more freedom and ability to expand their programing. Promoting sustainable practices, and advocating for the environmental health, safety and wellbeing of our industries is of the utmost importance to us.” Said Bill Lutz, President of Waterloo Container.

It is our hope, that this contribution gives the FLX CBEC the opportunity to make a difference in protecting our natural resources while being an example for others to follow.” –Said Mark C. Pitifer
