The Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce held its November Business After Hours Networking Mixer aboard the Finger Lakes Railway. This unique event was part of the Chamber’s Business After Hours Season Pass Program and was coordinated with FLR Manager of Business Development and Passenger Operations, Bruce Habberfield. Guests were able to enjoy refreshments and take a one-hour train ride aboard a 1950s rail car while learning about the history of the train and the operations of Finger Lakes Railway. In addition to the history, Habberfield spoke during the ride and addressed common strengths and weaknesses they have encountered while also mentioning career opportunities for those interested in learning more. The FLX Chamber wishes to thank Bruce and the Finger Lakes Railway for their hospitality and generosity in hosting such a unique and memorable Business After Hours event.
Finger Lakes Railway Corporation is a short-line railroad that owns and operates over 150 miles of track from its Geneva headquarters. Finger Lakes Railway (FGLK) has track in 6 counties in the Finger Lakes region including Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Yates, and Schuyler. Their current customer base has grown to 90 rail customers. FGLK connects with CSX, Norfolk Southern, and New York Susquehanna & Western Railroads. Since they began operations in 1995, they have added over 50 full-time employees and now have a fleet of 19 locomotives. FLR has also been active with community programs and has hosted various passenger train rides and partnered with nonprofits over the years such as Rotary for their popular Santa Train Rides.
The next Business After Hours Mixer will be a special Holiday Open House event which will be held on Wednesday, December 18 from 5-7 PM at One Franklin Square and will feature professional headshots available for purchase in advance and will be held at the FLX Chamber office. Justina Holcomb, owner of Naturally Chic Photography will be set up to offer individuals or businesses an opportunity to update their headshot photo files at a discounted rate. The cost to attend Business After Hours is $10 for Members and $20 for non-members unless individuals have purchased a BAH Season Pass.
