Cayuga County Law Enforcement Receives Mental Health Training

SHARE NOW

Recently, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office partnered once again with the Cayuga County Mental Health Department to provide Mental Health Crisis Intervention Officer Training. Detective Sergeant Nicole Stewart of our Sheriff’s Office and Michelle Fiorelli of Cayuga County Mental Health facilitated and provided the instruction of the 40 hour course.

The training includes an extensive and dynamic curriculum in the area of mental health, designed to equip law enforcement and first responders to better serve those suffering from mental illness in crisis situations. It is also designed to help provide tools and resources, as well as build partnerships between law enforcement, mental health providers, and human services, that will promote guiding those in crisis towards community based treatment.
