RE: BEEF PRODUCERS – CCE CAYUGA WINTER SHOP MEETINGS
Date & Time: Wednesday, February 12, 2025 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Topic: “What is finished? Managing cattle to optimize carcass value”
Location: Minturn Farms, 5607 Sevior Road, Auburn
The goal in raising beef cattle is to make sure your animals reach their full potential in terms of meat quality and yield. Join us and meet Dr. Adam Murray to discuss the factors that influence your animal’s carcass value.
Dr. Murray is the Beef Cattle Extension Specialist, PRO-LIVESTOCK, Cornell University. He is interested in how cattle management throughout the entire lifecycle can influence carcass characteristics and the beef eating experience, and likes to tie in live cattle production with meat science wherever possible.
We are also scheduling visits during the day for your farm or processing business. Contact CCE Cayuga educator Ron Kuck to set up a time. You can reach him at 315-704-8810 or email [email protected]
Youth and 4-H members are encouraged to come out also, especially those involved with the 4-H Market Auction. Dr. Murray is a big 4-H guy!
Free! Bring your camp chairs and come on out!
Cornell Extension supplies coffee, milk and donuts. No registration needed
Questions or directions contact Ron Kuck, 315-704-8810, [email protected]
For the past 5 years CCE Cayuga Winter Shop Meetings have been hosted by a local farm and held in their barns or heated workshops. Shop Meetings are an opportunity to hear from local farms and industry experts, to encourage conversation and sharing amongst the county’s farms. The objective of the series, is to keep Cayuga County producers informed of timely issues affecting their business.
