While summer vacation is on many kid’s minds, the Booker T Washington Center in Auburn is already planning for the next school year.
The center will begin registrations for its free K-12 before and after school programs June 12th.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Program Director Brandon Wakeham says there’s a plethora of activates for students including tutoring, filmmaking, music, nutrition, and dance.
“They get to experience so many things that they wouldn’t get to do otherwise,” said Wakeham. “Like music classes for example; the kids get a ukulele when they do the program and they get to keep it if they stick with it. Some of those kids might not ever get exposed to music classes but they get to try so many new things that they probably never would have otherwise.”
The before school program is new for the next school year. Registration will take place from 3:00-6:00p at the center’s gymnasium.
