Alison Rose Foundation Donates $10,000 to Finger Lakes Health Foundation for Purchase of New Infant Warmers

The Emergency Departments of Finger Lakes Health’s Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital have new, state-of-the-art infant warmers thanks to a $10,000 gift from the Alison Rose Foundation.

Amy Carey, co-founder of the Alison Rose Foundation, visited Geneva General Hospital’s emergency department to see the new equipment and meet with Matthew C Talbott, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Finger Lakes Health, and the Emergency Department staff.

“We provide care to a predominantly rural, four-county region, and while we do not offer routine obstetric care in our hospitals, our Emergency Departments may be the closest places for pregnant women in crisis to seek care,” says Dr. Talbott. “Our emergency doctors are trained and ready to provide the care these women and their babies need, but we continuously need to replace and upgrade the equipment we use. We are so grateful for the generous donation from the Alison Rose Foundation to support the purchase of two baby warmers for our EDs.”

Amy Carey co-founded the Alison Rose Foundation in 2020 with her husband, Allen Carey, and son-in-law, Justin Waclawek, in honor of her daughter Ali. In 2019, Ali died from a rare and often fatal condition called Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) while giving birth to her daughter Ada, who survived. The Foundation raises funds to support AFE research and education, and medical care for mothers and children. Most of the funding for the $10,000 gift came from the Foundation’s “Bike, Hike and BBQ” event held last June at Keuka Lake State Park in Penn Yan.

“We are committed to helping health care organizations provide the best possible care for moms and their babies, particularly in emergent situations,” says Carey. “We are delighted to support Finger Lakes Health’s emergency services with this gift.”
