Police in Geneva are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning following a large after-hours gathering.
According to the Geneva Police Department, officers with the Uniformed Division responded to the area of Reed Street around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of shots being fired.
When officers arrived, they determined a large party had been taking place at a residence where the shooting occurred. Investigators recovered multiple 9mm shell casings outside the home.
Police say those at the scene were largely uncooperative with officers during the initial response.
A short time later, authorities learned that a victim had been taken by private vehicle to Geneva General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual was later transferred by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
Officials say the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
The Geneva Police Department Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation and is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Steve Vine at 315-828-6784 or [email protected]
