SHARE NOW

Geneva native and concussion awareness advocate Ray Ciancaglini will be a keynote speaker at a sold-out traumatic brain injury (TBI) conference on March 27 at Columbia University’s Kraft Center.

The event, “Crossroads in Traumatic Brain Injury,” will bring together researchers, medical students, and patient advocates from across the region to discuss prevention, care, and support for TBI survivors. Ciancaglini, a former professional boxer, will deliver a keynote titled “From Punches to Prevention,” drawing from his personal experience to discuss preventing Second Impact Syndrome, managing neurological conditions, and the role of resilience and lifestyle in long-term brain health.

Ciancaglini has long supported concussion awareness through The Second Impact organization. Earlier this month, he returned to Geneva High School, where he delivered a message on the importance of being a role model—a reminder of his roots and commitment to mentoring students in the community.

The conference will feature student organizations from universities including Harvard, MIT, CUNY, and CCNY, and will be offered in-person and virtually. Ciancaglini will also host a book signing for “Second Impact: The Ray Ciancaglini Story,” written by Andy Siegel.
