A hand recount and audit have confirmed the results of Wednesday’s Penn Yan mayoral election, with no changes reported.
According to the Yates County Board of Elections, all ballots were recounted by hand on Friday, and the audit verified the original totals.
Patricia Christensen received 179 votes, narrowly defeating incumbent Mayor Dan Condella, who received 176. Former Mayor Leigh MacKerchar finished with 153 votes, while Daniel Irwin received 37.
The outcome marks the second consecutive Penn Yan mayoral race decided by just three votes. In 2022, Condella—then a challenger—defeated incumbent MacKerchar by a similarly slim margin, 259 to 256.
Officials say the certified results now stand following the completed recount and audit.
