The Keuka College Softball team set out to play a pair of games on Monday, but the Florida weather had other plans.
Keuka College (1-3) lost to SUNY Plattsburgh 9-2 in their opening game. That game was called in the middle of the sixth due to storms. In the second game, the Wolves were up on Meredith College 1-0 in the middle of the fourth, but another round of storms ended the day before the game could become official.
SUNY Plattsburgh 9 vs. Keuka College 2 (6 innings)
The Cardinals struck quickly with three runs in the top of the first inning for the early advantage. The Wolves answered right back with a pair in the bottom of the inning. Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) led off with a walk. She then moved to third on a slap single by Gabby Glanville (Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton). After Glanville stole second, they both came home on a single by Hailey Jasinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / North Collins) to make it 3-2.
The offense continued for the Cardinals as they added three more runs in the second and then one in the third.
The Wolves threatened in the fourth. Julia Spencer (Chittenango, N.Y. / Chittenango) led off with a single to right, and Lindsay Stuck (Wellsville, N.Y. / Wellsville) followed with one of her own. However, Plattsburgh got a pair of groundouts and a strikeout to escape the inning.
The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the fifth. In the middle of the sixth inning, the game was called due to lightning in the area with Plattsburgh getting the 9-2 victory.
KC Notes:
Monday was just the second meeting all-time between the Wolves and the Cardinals. The first meeting came in the 2007 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament with the Cardinals getting the victory.
Olivia Flynn and Hailey Jasinski each had a pair of hits for the Wolves against Plattsburgh.
Jasinski drove in both runs for Keuka.
Gabby Glanville and Julia Spencer each recorded their first collegiate hits against the Cardinals.
Against Meredith, Keuka led 1-0 at the time the game was called. The Wolves scored on a solo home run by Hailey Jasinski. Olivia Flynn pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out a pair. However, since the game did not make it to the fifth, it is a no-contest, and the stats are not recorded.

The poor weather that has been impacting games looks to clear for Tuesday’s doubleheader. Keuka College will open the day with a 10 a.m. game against Edgewood University. The Wolves will then play Rutgers-Camden to round out their Tuesday slate.
