The annual “Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates” day of service will return to Yates County on April 26, bringing together hundreds of volunteers to help local organizations and residents.
The event is organized by Keuka College in partnership with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and community members. Now in its 27th year, the program connects volunteers with nonprofit organizations, agencies, and community groups across Yates County.
Each year, volunteers assist with a variety of community projects including yardwork, gardening, light repairs, and other improvements at locations such as youth camps, churches, cemeteries, libraries, fire departments, and other community organizations.
Registration is now open for both volunteers and work sites. Those interested can sign up online at www.keuka.edu/cscy.
Volunteers who register by April 6 will receive a complimentary T-shirt and a free brunch at Keuka College’s Dahlstrom Student Center from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. on the day of the event.
A brief kickoff ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. outside the Dahlstrom Student Center, where organizers will celebrate the spirit of the event and recognize supporting sponsors. After the ceremony, volunteers will head out to work sites throughout the county, with projects scheduled to wrap up by 4:30 p.m.
Organizers say people who miss the April 6 registration deadline are still welcome to participate. They can volunteer on the day of the event and enjoy brunch beforehand, though they will not receive a T-shirt.
