The Ithaca Police Department is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Thomas Condzella, who died unexpectedly at his home on March 10.
Condzella joined the Ithaca Police Department in 2015 as a patrol officer. During his time with the department, he was promoted first to sergeant and later to lieutenant.
Throughout his career, Condzella served in several specialized roles, including on the department’s Specialized Response Team and Crash Reconstruction Team. He was also a member of the department’s Recruitment Team and served as president of the Ithaca Police Benevolent Association.
In a statement, the Ithaca Police Department said it is grateful for Condzella’s dedicated service to the city and extended condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers.
Condzella is survived by his wife and two young sons.
