Construction work tied to the City of Geneva’s Castle Street Capital Improvements Project is set to begin Monday, March 16.
City officials say Villager Construction will start installing new water services along Castle Street between Brook Street and Oak Street. A section of Castle Street will be temporarily closed to traffic during the workday.
The closure will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic between Brook Street and Oak Street. Northbound and southbound traffic on Maxwell Avenue will also be closed between Lafayette Avenue and Castle Street while crews are working.
Drivers should expect detours and temporary changes to normal traffic patterns. Officials say work zones will be restricted to local traffic and emergency vehicles, with detour routes clearly posted.
Parking in the area may also be limited overnight and during construction hours.
The city says the work is expected to continue for several weeks, although schedules could change depending on weather or other conditions.
Cyclists are urged to use caution due to rough road conditions and to follow posted detours. Pedestrians are encouraged to use available sidewalks and crosswalks and keep a safe distance from construction equipment.
City officials say the project is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.
