Middlesex Hose Company Honors Longtime Leader for 58 Years of Service

SHARE NOW

The Middlesex Hose Company is recognizing one of its longest-serving members for nearly six decades of dedication to the department and community.

Rodney Bassett has served with the Middlesex Hose Company for a total of 58 years, including 34 years in a leadership role wearing the department’s white helmet. During that time, Bassett spent three years as Chief of the Department and an additional 31 years as Assistant Chief.

Fire officials say Bassett’s commitment, experience, and steady leadership helped guide the department for generations of firefighters.

After decades of service in command roles, Bassett has decided to step down as Assistant Chief effective April 1.

Despite stepping away from the leadership position, Bassett will remain an active member of the department, where he will continue mentoring current line officers and newer firefighters.

Members of the Middlesex Hose Company thanked Bassett for the many emergency calls he answered and the lasting impact he has had on the department and the community during his 58 years of service.
