A Penn Yan woman was arrested by the Penn Yan Police Department following a traffic stop within the village.
Officers stopped the vehicle at approximately 3:18 p.m. after observing an expired inspection sticker. A subsequent records check revealed that Patricia Scutt, age 53, was allegedly operating the vehicle with a revoked New York State driver’s license. Further investigation showed that Scutt also had an active bench warrant for failing to appear in court regarding the original charges out of Steuben County.
Scutt was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and issued traffic tickets to appear in the Village of Penn Yan Court at a later date. Following the stop, she was taken into custody and turned over to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
