On Saturday, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Casciani of Branchport following a motor vehicle accident on State Route 364 in the Town of Benton.
Deputies responded to the scene near County House Road at approximately 6:02 p.m. Upon arrival, contact was made with Casciani, who allegedly displayed several signs of intoxication. Following a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Casciani was taken into custody.
Casciani is accused of felony Driving While Intoxicated, felony Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or Greater, and felony Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of .18% or Greater. He was also cited for moving from a lane unsafely.
Casciani was transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
