On Sunday, Geneva Police arrested a local man following a traffic stop on North Genesee Street.
George Gibson Jr., 41, was taken into custody after officers observed an alleged unsafe lane change. During the stop, officers determined that Gibson was intoxicated while operating the motor vehicle on a public street. A review of his driving record revealed a prior conviction for Driving While Intoxicated within the past ten years, resulting in the current charge being elevated to a felony.
Additionally, investigators determined that Gibson was operating the vehicle without a required ignition interlock device. He has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated as a Felony, Circumventing an Interlock Device, and Unsafe Lane Change.
Gibson was processed and held for further court action.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
