12 p.m. UPDATE: The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook that Joanne was located off of Rabbit Run Road in the Town of Ulysses late this morning. They added that “she is safe.”
Authorities are searching for a 10-year-old girl reported missing early Thursday morning in Tompkins County.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 6:34 a.m. to the 5000 block of Cold Springs Road in the Town of Ulysses for the report of a missing child. Joanne Washburn’s parents told authorities they discovered she was not in the home around 6 a.m. They said the last time they saw her was around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Joanne is believed to be wearing a blue jacket and gray-and-blue boots, and may be carrying a purple backpack with yellow strings. Authorities also released an updated photo showing the blue coat she is believed to be wearing. (see below)
Investigators say Joanne did not arrive at school in Trumansburg this morning. A witness also reported possibly seeing a child matching her description walking along Trumansburg Road around 1 a.m.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching the area.
