On Tuesday, State Police in Williamson arrested two Rochester men following a forgery investigation originating in the Town of Ontario.
The arrests stem from a complaint received on January 8, 2026, regarding a stolen personal check. Investigators allege the check was altered and deposited at an automated teller machine in Monroe County. Following a review of bank records and surveillance footage, police identified Shelden Stevens, 38, and Cori Buckman Jr., 25, as the suspects involved in the incident.
Both men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree. State Police were assisted by the Brighton Police Department in taking both individuals into custody.
Stevens and Buckman Jr. were processed at SP Rochester and transported to the Monroe County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
