SHARE NOW

On Saturday, deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Savannah man following a traffic stop on Canal Street in the Town of Lyons.

James Foss, 79, was pulled over at approximately 5:30 p.m. after deputies observed several traffic infractions. Following an investigation into the stop, deputies determined that Foss was allegedly intoxicated. Foss was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing, where he reportedly refused to submit to a chemical test.

Foss was charged with two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to use a turn signal 100 feet before turning, speed not reasonable or prudent, and driving while intoxicated.

Foss was transported to the Wayne County Centralized Arraignment Part court and is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
