The Keuka College men’s lacrosse team opened the 2026 season with a bang, scoring 26 goals in a 26-4 victory over Thiel College on Thursday.
Austin Holsclaw (Queensbury / Queensbury) led the Wolves with 11 points on five goals and six assists. Harrison Root (Jefferson Township) and Aiden Nice (Palmyra-Macedon) each finished with six goals and two assists for eight points apiece. Cam Hovater (West Genesee) and Toby Tummino (LaFayette) also added multi-goal performances.
Keuka controlled play from the opening faceoff, building a 9-1 lead after the first quarter behind goals from Nice, Holsclaw, Root, and Tummino. The Wolves stretched the margin into double digits in the second quarter with balanced scoring and strong transition play, taking a 16-3 advantage into halftime.
Any thoughts of a comeback were erased in the third, as Root completed his hat trick, Holsclaw added to his total, and the defense continued to force turnovers. Keuka pushed the lead past 20 entering the fourth.
The Wolves kept the pressure on late, with Root and Nate Bonaparte (East Syracuse-Minoa) scoring down the stretch while the defense held firm to seal the 26-4 win.
Keuka has now won all four meetings with Thiel and improved to 7-3 in its last 10 season openers. The 26 goals tie for the second-most in a game in program history, and Holsclaw’s 11 points tie for the fourth-most. Goalie Jaxson Tucker (Canandaigua Academy) made 13 saves.
Next up, Keuka remains in Pennsylvania to face University of Pittsburgh at Bradford next Wednesday before opening the home schedule the following weekend in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
