UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health has recognized the first graduates of its Certified Nursing Assistant program for 2026.
The ceremony was held in Geneva, where officials congratulated Samantha Coyle, Kari Goebert, Javon Johnson, Tahirah Hoover, Kaelie Kowal, Spencer Lightfoote, Carley Luffman, Sherelle Moore, and Taina Torres.
The health system offers a paid CNA Training Program approved by the New York State Department of Health. The four-week program includes 138 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. Graduates are then eligible to take the state certification exams.
Officials say many participants use the program as a steppingstone into long-term healthcare careers, with some continuing their education to become licensed practical nurses or registered nurses.
Job opportunities are currently available at the Geneva Living Centers, The Homestead in Penn Yan, and Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, along with other long-term care facilities in the region.
To support new graduates, UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health is offering a $2,000 hiring bonus. Transportation assistance is also available for those training in Geneva and working in Penn Yan and Waterloo.
Those interested in the CNA program can apply online through the organization’s website or call 315-787-4039 for more information.
