Bath police arrested 36-year-old Damian Vanvleck this week for allegedly violating a stay-away order and attempting to influence a witness.
Authorities say Vanvleck, who was recently released pre-trial from Steuben County Jail on pending felony robbery charges, made contact with a victim in violation of a full stay-away order. Police also say he tried to get the victim to change their testimony against him.
Vanvleck was located on Liberty Street on Wednesday and taken into custody without incident. He faces one count of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of Tampering With a Witness in the 4th Degree, also a Class A misdemeanor.
He was processed and transported back to Steuben County Jail for arraignment, where he is being held with the possibility of bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
