One of the former Waterloo Town Board members accused of vandalizing the town Highway Department will be in court Monday for pretrial arguments. Bob Lotz, who faces a felony burglary charge and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, is scheduled to appear before Judge Barry Porsch in Seneca County Court.

The case stems from an incident in March 2024 when Lotz and former Town Supervisor Don Trout allegedly entered the Highway Department and destroyed a television. Both men have pleaded not guilty.

According to a report in the Finger Lakes Times, Trout, who faces a felony third-degree burglary charge, seven misdemeanors, and a violation, is scheduled for pretrial motions on March 18.

State Police arrested both men in January 2025, and a Seneca County grand jury indicted them six months later. Trout lost his reelection bid to Democrat Ted Young in November, while Lotz gave up his board seat to challenge Highway Superintendent Joe Mull but was defeated.
